Foreign Language Intent
What do we want our MfL curriculum to achieve?

Have developed a passion and intrigue for a foreign language

Be able to transcribe words they have heard (from various sources) with increasing accuracy

Instigate and engage in conversations- tailoring their discussions based on responses they hear while being able to ask questions to seek clarification

Speak confidently, with increasing accurate pronunciation and intonation, about themselves, their family, their hobbies and their opinions- using the correct form (feminine or masculine)- to a range of audiences

Become tolerant and respectful of other cultures

Appreciate and respect the native stories, songs, poems /rhymes and customs of France and French-speaking countries
Essential characteristics of a linguist:
• The confidence to speak with good intonation and pronunciation.
• Fluency in reading.
• Fluency and imagination in writing.
• A strong awareness of the culture of the countries where the language is spoken.
• A passion for languages and a commitment to the subject.
• The ability to use language creatively and spontaneously.
• An independence in their studies and the ability to draw upon a wide range of resources.
