Music Intent

What do we want our Music curriculum to achieve?

  • Develop children’s Music skills and knowledge so that all children can become musicians and singers.
  • Enable children to experience the joy of playing, creating and performing music with their peers and to a wide audience.

  • Very good awareness and appreciation of different musical traditions and genres.
  • An excellent understanding of how musical provenance - the historical, social and cultural origins of music - contributes to the diversity of musical styles.
  • The ability to give precise written and verbal explanations, using musical terminology effectively, accurately and appropriately.
