Homework
In 2019, as part of the change from the 'Quality of teaching, learning and assessment' judgement to 'The quality of education' judgement, Ofsted removed the grade criteria relating to the setting of homework from its 'School inspection handbook'. "Teachers set challenging homework, in line with the school's policy an as appropriate for the age and stage of pupils, that consolidates learning, deepens understanding and prepares pupils very well for work to come."
Whilst Ofsted will not be looking directly at each school's specific approach, homework is still a vital tool in embedding knowledge and gauging understanding.
As a result of this every child will have:
- a reading book
- spellings given out weekly
- CGP books - given 1 week to complete the pages set
- Topic homework
- Sumdog
For phonics the school uses Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised.
Encouraging reading for pleasure
- Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised
- Children choose their own reading book - not working through a scheme
- Read a variety of genres
- Have varied oppotunities for reading
- Reading newsletter sent to parents

Above all reading should be fun!
